I value a great haircut. I highly recommend Edvin to be your barber. When I first came to the Sarasota area I struggled to find a barber that was great at what he does but also accommodating to clients. Edvin is the only barber I will go to now in the area. Ive had multiple haircuts by Edvin and have never had the feeling that it wasnt worth it or it doesnt look good. Id give 10 stars if I could.

Jaden is hands down the best stylist I’ve gone to. He’s incredibly knowledgeable and works with you to figure out not only what looks best for you, but what you’re the most comfortable with. I deal with thinning hair and he showed me the best way to style it and embrace it. It’s helped to boost my confidence in how I look. I am pretty picky about my hair and who cuts it since I usually go 4+ weeks before I can return for cuts/style. I held off on doing a review for a year as I rate these type of establishments differently than I would do a restaurant review. Atmosphere is extremely clean and the lounge are in the front is very well kept with nice leather couches and chairs to sit it along with some popular quality products to look at. Receptionists are always professional and nice. Do I want a drink you ask? Well of course, so typically I head to the back area with a bar and more seating along with TVs and if you want you can even grab a cigar and go out front to enjoy one after your cut/style. Beer, Wine, and some single mixers are available along with Seltzers and some Spiked coffee drinks. Very clean as well and your front Receptionist is your bartender. Moving onto the important part, the person who I trust with my hair and look. Let me just say Joe is freakin AWESOME! I couldnt be happier! Joe takes his time, makes sure every angle looks great, the cut is to my liking, and I dont have those random hairs that tend to like to stick out after a shave or fade. HIGHLY Recommend Modern Gents in the UTC Mall area, and ask for JOE!

This is a place that does everything right. From the second I walked in I knew my experience was going to be great. Firstly at my first appointment, the receptionist knew my name and sent me to the bar while my stylist finished her appointment. I had great engaging conversation with Colby while waiting and enjoyed an excellent selection of draft beers. Sherri did an incredible job cutting my hair and even stayed 20 minutes past close to make sure that everything was done correctly and no hair was left out of place. This is such a quality establishment and I can’t recommend it enough!

Went in to MG on an excellent review from a colleague of mine and he was absolutely right. This barber shop is top of the line and the service is excellent. I showed up early for my appointment so that I could enjoy a nice cold beer not your average barber shop and was nicely greeted by the owner, Nick. Had a great conversation. Once my appointment was ready, Eddie came up to me and said when I was ready to come by his chair for an amazing experience. He didnt disappoint me.Ive NEVER been satisfied with a haircut in my 27 years of life and I finally found my spot. Eddie is amazing and has such attention do detail.A must visit spot.

I just moved to the area and it was a worry of mine to find a good barber. Look no further! I cant remember the name of the guy who cut my hair and trimmed my beard, but he did an INCREDIBLE job! He knew exactly what I wanted. I mean, so detailed and professional. My wife pointed out my beard trim looked awesome. For what you get, I feel that its priced well. I think the concept is neat too, even though I dont drink they had some good options for people that do. I will definitely go back here!

I really like this place and I frequently go there. There are several good barbers there. Unfortunately there are also some that are not. My lesson: not to book with those that are not that great. I am giving 5 stars for those who deserve it. But those who dont should simply take example and learn. Place isnt cheap, therefore expectations are high, so one bad apple isnt going to spoil it for me and the establishment. Book with those you already had experience with.

I’ve been to so many barbers and I can say this place is the best. Joe is my go to guy. He puts in the work and gives me exactly what I want every time. My hair style is a mid angular bald fade with a lot of hair on top. Not only is the fade precise, Joe is a stylist. I can also say, I’m very observant of the other barbers and their clients cuts. They all do amazing work and give their clients what they desire. I 110% recommend this place.

Been here a few times and tried different barbers. The older gentleman is very nice but wouldn’t recommend when it comes to a fade. It is a cool atmosphere and concept of the shop but a bit pricey. The complementary bottle of water or coffee and option of beer is a nice touch. Very kind “and attractive” staff. LEYLA is the best barber for fades.

Having just moved back to the area and with the lockdowns finally easing, I decided to give this business a try. I’m extremely glad I did. Deb got it perfect right out of the gate. On top of this, the environment is very relaxing and inviting. Give this stylist and this location a try. You won’t be disappointed.In addition, the staff all wore masks and they asked you to sanitize your hands when you arrive which was much appreciated. We need to keep our high risk population safe and they are doing their part.

I went in as a first time customer, been about two months since I got a haircut. They were able to fit me into the schedule, I sat down immediately with a very courteous gentlemen. Not even a minute into the cut he asked why my hair looked horrible, (it was, my previous barber did a horrible job) and in 30 minutes he completely transformed my hair into something clean and professional looking. I appreciate honesty in people. If my hair looks bad, I would rather be told than just pretend its fine. I cannot thank you guys enough, I have confidence in how good my hair looks and will definitely return for my next haircut. Great cut for a great price!

My son and husband LOVE going here. They are always treated like royalty and are given a great cut. They only reason I gave it 4 stars is that it is rather pricey. I wish they had a rewards program or something that would make the more you go a monetary benefit. It there was, my husband would go there more often. First time to MGs. Met Mark and wow. I wanted to change up my regular haircut. A style I have always wanted to do. Not only was the experience great, but I dont remember a time within the last 6 years a haircut made me feel so good. Changing is never easy, but Mark absolutely nailed it! On top of that, it started off with a free sample of their IPA. Their atmosphere and barber have created a long term advocate! I recommend highly and will absolutely be coming back!

My only complaint is the lady at the desk quickly mentioned an extra straight blade trim option and automatically added it to my ticket before i said I do not want this trim because I could see she had added it without my consent. And no, it was not a misunderstanding, just trying to up-charge. 2-stars for the receptionist and 5-stars for the barber.

Matt Dunlop. Best barber there. You have to go to this guy. Hes detail oriented, concerned with cutting your hair exactly how you want it, and most importantly he takes the TIME necessary to make sure its done right. None of that get in and get out stuff. Im a stickler for barbers but this guy definitely exceeds my expectations. The establishment is great. They have a bar and the ambiance is clean, modern, and refreshing. Definitely a place to forget about life for a while and just be taken care of. 5 stars!

I went on opening day and received the Modern Gent grooming package including a complimentary glass of whiskey! I also included a classic shave, something I have never gotten done before and from start to finish this place impressed! I walked into a classy, high end lounge filled with rich dark woods, and granite. Being greeted by very nice and personable staff to check me in. Then the pampering began! A warm towel softened my beard and Alberto then went to work! This guy is an amazing Master Barber and made me feel comfortable while he held this very sharp razor to my face haha! This was the smoothest shave i have ever had! I then had Lena Lemon cut my hair, and the attention to detail was beyond impressive, constantly brushing off the cut hair to see how my hair was looking and the best fade ive ever received. This was all finished with an exfoliating face mask and massage of my neck and hands. What an experience! I cant wait to go back!

The stylist I had used a straight razor on my neck with no shaving cream. Left with razor burn down my whole neck. Ill cut it a break since it just opened, but will stick with a little bit longer drive to get to the University location.
