We get to see our natural curls regardless of the hair type and that is very encouraging. I’ve been coming here since February and my hair is soft, curly. I had an amazing experience with Rhonda, I never get my hair blown out with a cut but let me tell you I absolutely love the roller set with the blow out and trim she gave me. I am constantly looking at my hair, it looks and feels healthy. I always wear my hair curly so it was nice to do something different for a special occasion. I will be returning back to her to start getting curly trims and to continue getting educated on the best way to take care of my hair. Rhonda is so personable, has a gentle spirit, and you can feel comfortable with her. I know my hair is in good hands and she will always be honest with what my hair needs. I highly recommend booking with Hydra Bar!

I had a great experience at the Hydra Bar Salon. I flew in from Canada and was able to get an appointment with very little notice with the owner, Rhonda. I really appreciate that she came in on her day off to accommodate me. Excellent customer service, my curls have never been so defined and I left with a wealth of knowledge on natural hair care. I will definitely be back.Rhonda also cut my hair, she removed all the split and dry ends. I’m very happy with the cut. She removed what was necessary to give me a new start. I absolutely loved my first 2 experiences with this salon. I am so relieved to finally find a hair salon that is passionate about natural hair of all types.I love that they offer a consultation before scheduling an actual appointment. Lary was so knowledgeable and took her time to explain the process.For my actual appointment, I arrived a bit early and was taken to the chair immediately. Jalissa is amazing. She was also very knowledgeable, and she explained every step of the process. She explained how to use the products and went into depth about using the detangling tool during the washing and conditioning step. Already added to cart, lolLary did my cut and I was prepared for her to cut a lot but she took her time and only cut what was truly needed. I absolutely love the results and the shape she created. Jalissa did an amazing job with styling she helped me to understand my curl formation and what would work best for my hair type.Overall I love the fact that eventhough they are using mostly the same products, they taught me how to use them for my specific hair type and needs. Not all hair types are the same between person to person and sometimes not even the same on the same head 😅 At this salon they help you to understand YOUR hair. I love that they are taking the drama out of natural hair and getting to the basics. No more 2 day wash days for me. Im already on the books for my next appointment and I cant wait. I am fully on board with the process and I cant wait to see how my hair flourishes under their care.

Book the Appointment NOW! If you are at the point of reading reviews to try and find a place you feel safe to trust with your Natural Hair this is it. Tesa is a miracle worker. I have tried everything there is out there on my hair since I went natural during the pandemic. It truly is a journey and for some reason because of my hair texture it seems to be the most expensive hair journey. Thousands spent just to try something and it not work for my hair. From the moment you enter the salon you know its for you. Every woman in there had hair that was relatable to me. I was greeted by Tesa and explained the process. She told me to trust it and I am happy I did. Every question answered! I knew when she washed my hair with a Shampoo Brush that This Was It! Ive been there twice this month. Plan on going and then making a follow up appointment for 10 days later. I am no longer upset in the morning like what am I going to do with this hair. I love a wash and go but usually the next day that style needs to be redone or wet. Not after going here. Days 3-5 are my Fav Hair Days! Hair still looking fresh and moisturized. This is that place and Im so happy it is local to me. See you ladies next month.

My hair came out amazing and my stylist educated me on how to care for my natural hair. They are very strict with Covid-19 restrictions and do their very best to make sure every client feels safe. The shop is very clean and everyone is friendly and welcoming! It took me an hour and a half to get to this shop because I live in another county, but it was worth the drive and I will be back!

This was my very first time going to the hydra bar. Let me first say they are great with it comes to customer service from beginning to end. My stylist that day was Judith she’s is very sweet and very knowledgeable when it comes to natural hair. She took her time to explain everything that I can do even when I’m home. I have to give major props to Angela (Hope thats her name) at the front desk, shes the real deal – professional, friendly, and keeps everything on point.Now, let me tell yall about Rhonda, my stylist. I didnt even know she owned the place – thats how down-to-earth she is. You know, some salon owners are all about the money, but Rhondas different. Shes chill, got this calming vibe, and really takes her time to understand your hair. When she did the hydra set thing, you can tell shes doing it with love. Shes patient, breaks down the process, and answers all your questions (trust me, I had a bunch). Even though I was on a time crunch, she still hooked me up with the best service.Big shoutout to my girl Janelle for putting me onto this spot. I have no complaints about this place and the people here! Everyone is so nice and compassionate. I have been going to them for about 2 years almost, and my hair is at the most healthiest state. I never used to like to wear my hair out because I never knew what to do with it unless it was with braids or weave but now, I love my hair and would prefer to wear it out than getting braids. Love love love this place !

I was just looking up the address of Hydrabar salon (because of my terrible memory) when I noticed the reviews and realized... have I never left a review??! This review is YEARS late! 😅 Hydrabar is THE curly girl spot! I have more of a 2c/3a pattern but I have trusted Kurian as my stylist for a long time now. I was terrified of bleach because previous stylists have destroyed my hair wuth it but Kurian is a Master Colorist. I recieved SO many compliments on my balayage. I was in LOVE. I loved that she addressed my concerns before, during, and after the process. She has also done my daughters hair who has kinkier curls and that little diva was in love with her hair by the time Kurian was finished! Lets just say my daughter gives me a very difficult time to just shampoo her hair but Kurian must have magic hands because my child was enjoying every moment from start to end. 10/10!

Hello,I am always reading everyone else stories and testimonies so I decided to post mine own. After being the wrap queen all my life no one could have paid me to go natural. I always had beautiful thick hair and my wraps always on fleek!😅 But one day I noticed my perm was not taking like it use to and my hair was thinning. I immediately went into a depressed mode. So I tried everything and nothing wasnt working. I then decided I am going to try this natural thing. I didnt want to do the big chop off so I wore braids and sew ins for 2 years starting August 2015. So on my bday July 24, 2017 I made the decision to go to Hydrabar Hair salon after stalking and looking at my classmate Shelby Rushin-Oden hair Everytime she post her pictures after leaving Hydrabar I said I am going! When I found out how much I was like WTH! Then I said wait a minute I buy MK purses, Gucci purses, shoes, perfume and pay $200 for rope twists, and sew ins. I then scheduled my appointment with Rhonda and she taught me about hydration and caring for my hair. I would have never thought washing, condition, aloe,water and curlformer would have me looking this beautiful! I love my natural hair transition. It took me about a month to embrace and I am still trying to get this fingers and knuckle down pack but so worth the investment. I seen Rhonda first then she wasnt available for my next visit so I had the pleasure of meeting Natasha and she was just as great. At first I was like I dont want to try anyone new but I see that they are all so professional and know their stuff. I had my first appointment today with Lisbeth at Hydra Bar Salon. I absolutely love my results. My curls were so defined and bouncy. I’ve been using so many different products and have never achieved these results. Lisbeth took the time to explain how to treat my hair and she showed me how to get the results on my own. I loved that they tell you what products to use at home to condition and moisturize my hair. I am a believer that 4c hair can maintain curls and stay moisturized. I was totally skeptical when they told me about the evaluation cost. I said they cant be that good. I was wrong. They are that good. I went and insisted on getting flexi-rods which isnt what they specialize in and still I got so many compliments over a convention I attended over the weekend. I was told I had the best hairstyle by tons of people. I will be back for my wash and go! The service was very good and I like the fact that they try to keep it as Covid safe as possible.

Great Experience. Rhonda did a wonderful job on correcting my hair color. She was very pleasant and knowledgeable when it came to explaining to me how to keep my hair hydrated after the color treatment and how important hydration is for the health of my hair and to maintain my curl pattern. I recommend this place hands down. I was searching for a salon that would focus on natural hair and I got the opportunity to meet Liz who is very knowledgeable when it comes to curly hair. She made me feel very comfortable and I was very pleased with her recommendations on how to take care of my hair. At first I was very shocked since it was the first time that I let my hair be very short, but it had to be done due to damage from past visit to another salon. At previous salon I had gone for only a trim and they offered to condition my hair, they made a mistake on the product they used and I lost my curls. I received so many compliments at work and especially my husband is very in love with my curls! To see it looking so healthy and very locked the curls, he was very pleased with the outcome. I will be visiting more often!

I always have a great experience at Hydra-Bar Salon. The stylist are professional and friendly. The salon is clean and chic. I am am serviced right away. I love and appreciate upon entering the salon you have your temperature checked, they request you wash you hands, every one is masked, and every chair is sanitized between use. Every before the appointment one must fill out a COVID attestation survey. I feel happy, safe, and beautiful when I get my hair done at Hydra-Bar. Kurian styles and cuts my hair beautifully every time. All the young ladies are lovely and make you feel home away from home.

I absolutely love the salon. Their all very educated in natural hair. My hairstylist is Judith and she is so sweet and willing to answer any and every question I have. This was also the first hair salon I walked into where all the hairstylist hair look good. None of them wear hats or have wigs on. They all have the natural healthy hair that they promote. IT IS SUPER COVID SAFE. All clients and stylist must wear mask ,They check your temp before you step into the place, and make you go straight to the restroom to wash your hands. I wish there were more salons like this.

She thoroughly explained why my curl pattern was unattainable, and gave me a step by step tutorial on how to care for my hair. IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A GOOD HAIRDRESSER WHO REALLY CARES ABOUT YOUR NATURAL HAIR, THIS IS THE PLACE!!! Kurian is my stylist and she is AMAZING! She helped me face my fears and do my big chop! I did the first time appointment with Lary and she is the best thing to happen to my hair. She was so knowledgeable and friendly through the whole process. She also asked me what I expected my hair to look like when I came out, which NO ONE has asked me before, hence the voluminous yet frizzy styles Ive had before. I also really liked how she offered advice based on my hair type.The salon itself was easy to find, plenty of parking around, and clean!

I was an out of town client. MJ was very helpful in making room for me because they had no more appointments. Thank you MJ! Anyway, the technique they use for hydration is genius! The pros are that the stylists are knowledgeable, affable, informative, the environment is clean and masks are still required, the products arent fussy but they are effective! The stylists are generous with the information they teach because the goal is to empower the client to be able to use this same technique in their own hair at home.The cons are that the hydration lock in gel, though it is effective, can cause break outs when it comes in contact with the skin. So be careful. Another con is that the stylist was heavy on the trim. I asked for a trim and bang cut, but got a trim for the bang and a cut cut at the back. It was a whole different style of cut than what I asked for. My hair was mid back in the back, now it is at the base of my neck. I wouldnt recommend for cutting, but for everything else 10/10.

I walked in with my hair looking like a complete hot mess with split ends, dead hair, buildup of residue from bad hair products and basically no curl definition. When I transitioned to natural hair, every salon I went to said they can do 4c hair. The styles they gave me made me look 10 years older or sometimes more. Ive been hydrating my curls at Hydra-Bar Salon for a little over a year and my hair has come back to life! My stylist Kurian is AMAZING! When I came to her, my curls were lifeless and damaged. Frayed ends and I was experiencing hair loss. She gave me an angled Bob haircut which helped to hide the shedding and taught me how to take care of my hair. Slowly....yes...be patient with natural hair...my hair not only started to grow back but Fuller! My curls clump easily on their own and thanks to their product Hydra, keeps for more than 1 week. Great in person customer service. Instagram customer service does need work. They dont respond to DMs (in my case) but I see they respond to comments on posts. Their work speaks for itself. Check out their instagram (hydra bar). They specialize in natural hair (using their signature hydration method). Your hair on the first day is crunchy but is expected to look and feel better as the style gets older. I would have preferred more natural ingredients in their signature gel (curl former), but I guess for it to do what its suppose to do (lock in moisture/water molecules) it has to have the ingredients it currently has, but Im not a fan of it. You may have a different opinion. Natural hair is sometimes a trial and error process.They list the ingredients on their website (in the shop/store tab) and on Amazon. They use their signature hydra curl former on site and it can also be purchased on their website and Amazon. The store seems to be a black owned business :) and the owner is a curly hair woman. Shes also on YouTube. The reviews (mixed) on Amazon are quite helpful if you base your decision making off of other peoples experiences with a product. You can watch reviews on YouTube as well. The salon although small, is not cluttered, looks great, very clean and organized. They salon is conveniently located with ample parking (i went during the week). You can easily miss the salon as there is only signage on the door/window. They need something bigger outside. They go by appointment only, however, you can walk in set an appointment or book an appointment online. If you have to cancel an appointment, be nice and call 48 hrs in advance. The hydration specialist does encourage you to take the hydration class, but it is expensive ( Over $100). The exact price is on their website. They provide a breakdown of services and prices for each service on their website as well. They dont force you to take the class but emphasize the benefits. If you are completely new to taking care of your natural hair after it is styled during the week, and you can afford it, then do it, but if youve had natural hair for over a number of yrs, you know your hair and can navigate YouTube, you can watch other women use their product and see the unbiased results after use. The owner also has a video of how she uses the curl former which is VERY helpful. Their stylist is really nice, she listens and shes patient. If you have very thin hair and want a hairstyle that has volume, be realistic. Walk with several pics (front, side, back) of what you want (cut, dye, trim, etc) and discuss your concerns with the stylist before you start service. No hidden fees, they are upfront with their process and prices and you can get a breakdown depending on what youd like prior to booking.
