I highly recommend Morgan Jones, she is a phenomenal stylist who creates art through her craft. As an indigenous woman who hadn’t stepped foot in a salon is 8+ years, after thorough research of her professional profile- I knew I could put my full faith in Morgan to deliver the exact bangs I wanted. I have been a consistent client of hers over the past 2 years and I will never let anyone else near me with shears. The entirety of their staff is lovely and the salon has wonderful ambiance.

I’ve been going to Morgan for about two years and she’s absolutely the best! She really takes the time to understand what my hair goals are and she always executes exactly what I want. She’s so prompt and is always ready right at my appointment time. Her schedule can definitely get booked fast so I recommend always pre-booking with her, but she does always make time for a bang trim when I need one. She always takes the time to walk me through how to style my hair at home and she’ll recommend products without ever being pushy. I’ll be going to Morgan for as long as I live in Jacksonville!

Been going here to see Abby for almost 3 years now! She truly understands what you want & delivers it, EVERY TIME. Not only is Abby absolutely amazing, the whole team is! Always greeted with such positive vibes. Plus, the environment is so funky & fun! 20/10 recommend coming here for all your hair needs!P.S- if you’re looking to get bangs, you got to go to Abby & get “Abby Bobby Banged” you won’t regret it!

I had messed my hair up real bad on my own and I had some major anxiety about bringing it to someone, but Val made me feel so not crazy She took the issues on top of my goals and gave me something I can work with until my hair grows back out and I feel like a normal woman again which is hard when you do what I did. I’ll definitely be coming back to let Val help me achieve my goals from now on vs going insane and cutting my own hair! If you’re thinking of doing something crazy, don’t do it! Go to the salon and let them do it 😂 Great atmosphere, sweet staff - my internal salon anxiety is officially healed 🖤

Ive had 4 great haircuts here from different talented stylists. I started coming here when I walked by the one time and through the window I could see someone with an enviable haircut. Plus being able to make an appointment online is always desirable. My most recent appointment was with Alyssa. Its like she could read my mind and knew exactly what I wanted. A month later and Im still getting compliments.

Not only is Hawthorne amazing (can text to schedule appointments, front desk staff is phenomenal) but Abby is the bomb. I have super fine, thin hair and all my life have hated haircuts because no one ever did it justice. Abby is a WIZ. She is so talented it’s actually crazy. And not to mention she has an awesome personality so yapping in her chair is basically therapy. Love this place so much!!

Finding a good hairstylist in Jax is tricky..especially when you’re into weird and untraditional hairstyles. I struggled to find a good one for about a year and a half until I stumbled onto the salon’s page and after my first cut with Abby, I couldn’t get my haircut by anyone else for my remaining time in Jax. She has such a good energy and vibe about her that just makes you feel good about yourself. I never left that salon without feeling like a baddie. Overall a great experience, great salon and great people. I live in Texas now and will be booking a flight soon. Go get your hair done by Abby, you will not regret it.

Zoe was awesome! I came in with a mop on my head and no clear direction, yet she pulled a great haircut out of the woodworks, and really spared me from walking around with something unmanageable and unnattractive any longer. She was very polite and approachable , as were the checkout counter staff. Everyone was kind and my haircut looks great, Ill definitely be back.

Not only are Hawthorn Salon and the owners absolutely amazing, Libby is a fabulous hair stylist! I have had the pleasure of being one of Libbys first clients, and let me tell you, she is so talented! From day one, she has repeatedly nailed the style I was going for and even put her own little twist on it! I could not recommend her and Hawthorn more! Do not sleep on this salon.

Ariel is wonderful! Such a sweet person, but also very knowledgeable. I have this bad habit of growing my hair out, only to get sick of it and end up getting another pixie cut. I’m growing it out again for my wedding (AND going back to my natural color after platinum blonde) and I’ve been going to see Ariel for the last 6-8 months.Most stylists in the past have told me there isn’t much they can do for hair in certain stages of grow-out. But Ariel has been amazing! Even with crazy roots at one point, she was able to give me haircuts that made me feel cute and polished. I haven’t always been completely in love with whatever the cut was, as grow-out still has awkward stages, but it’s always looked good! I have never felt like I wanted to hide my hair, like I have in the past. Thanks Ariel!

I started going to see Abby last September at the recommendation of my daughter. Abby is absolutely phenomenal! She listens, gives style suggestions--and not once have I ever walked out with a hairstyle I did not like.The salon itself is conveniently located in Five Points, has a great vibe to it. The staff is friendly and welcoming. The salon offers a nice selection of hair products to suit your particular needs and offers easy online booking.I love Hawthorne!

I have been to Hawthorne Salon twice and both times Ive gone, the service has been above and beyond! The atmosphere of the salon is so welcoming and the staff are always so friendly. Ive had my hair cut by both Val and Tish, and they both did an incredible job cutting and styling my hair! Im always super nervous to get my hair cut, but my experience with them has been lovely. They are also super helpful and knowledgeable about the products they use, and are great at recommending products suited for my hair type! Hands down the best hair salon in Jacksonville Florida!

Walking into the salon felt welcoming. The ladies at the front desk were very friendly and helped me as soon as I walked in. While I was waiting for my appointment, I was able to walk around the area. There’s a coffee shop, bakery, antique store, and much more. My hair stylist name was Alyssa and she was amazing. We had a consultation and she understood exactly what I wanted. I’m a brunette with box color in my hair trying to go blonde. She gave me her honest opinion about how my hair is going to turn out. I rather have her be honest with me than tell me it’s going to be exactly like the pictures I was showing her. She showed me pictures of how my hair will most likely turn out and I was happy with it. While she was doing my hair, she made sure I was comfortable. Always checking up on me to make sure I was doing good. Before she started doing anything, she would inform me about what she is about to do and make sure that that’s what I wanted. We were having a friendly conversation the whole time and I was glad that we were able to have a little bonding time rather than just sitting in silence. The process was quick but she also took her time. I got a balayage, layers and face framing. You can tell that she definitely loves what she does. Definitely will be back and will choose Alyssa again!

This place is amazing as a whole but major shoutout to Abby who is a straight up hair wizard! This girl took my crispy and zapped hair with years of DIY bleach & dye and totally transformed it into a stunning warm hot chocolate kind of brown that’s so much closer to my natural color. I left the salon feeling so confident, so beautiful, and with the healthiest hair I’ve ever had in my life. I seriously can’t thank Abby and all of the folks who work here enough for their flexibility, communication, and overall amazing work. The teamwork to make sure I left with the perfect result was awesome, and everyone was so nice. The service was amazing, my hair feels so healthy and rejuvenated. I seriously went home and cried happy tears because it was such a major change and I just feel so PRETTY! Thank you so much to Abby!

I highly recommend Hawthorn Salon! Ive had my hair cut there a few times by different hairstylists, and theyve always done a great job and are also very friendly. I have long, thick, and curly hair, so its not the easiest to work with, and Im always impressed with my haircut when theyre finished. They also cut my fiancees hair regularly, and they always do a great job with hers, too.

Abby is so AMAZING! I have been going to her for three years now and she does an incredible job every single time. Not only does she slay my hair, but she is also an incredibly kind and wonderful person. She has the most uplifting and kind energy. I always look forward to getting my hair done, because I know it’s going to look amazing and it feels like I’m chatting with a friend the second I sit down in the chair. In addition to Abby, all of the other staff is also fantastic. It is such a professional and kind environment. Wow, I cannot say enough about what a nice experience this was. Alyssa cut my hair, and she did an amazing job - she is patient, creative, nonjudgmental, and a great listener. I told her how much I love my natural waves and she worked with me every step of the way to enhance them. I felt like she really respected my goals. I am incredibly happy with the cut - she checked in with me multiple times to make sure it looked the way I wanted it to. She is friendly and fun to work with, and it was all-around a very positive experience.Caylie waxed my eyebrows and I am so happy with how they look. She listened really well, had me check them to make sure I was happy with them, and I love that she was able to clean them up without taking off a lot of their width.I got the impression that this salon and its stylists really value every client’s individual experience, and want to work with you to give you the outcome you are looking for. When I go to get my hair done, I like to enjoy a glass of wine. They have a bar area that you can sit at. It is located downtown Jacksonville so I usually stroll along the sidewalk, eat lunch, and grab a dessert from a nearby bakery. All this makes me enjoy my experience.The staff is really knowledgeable and friendly. They do not do any kind of perms there so if you need that, keep looking around. The appointment times are usually on point. Ive never waited more than 5 minutes after my scheduled time. Amazing job on coloring with lots of the new techniques used.

I had my first experience at Hawthorn yesterday. I am always anxious when using a new stylist because I consider my hair as my crowning glory and the best feature on my body, so I gotta keep it looking 100. My stylist is Val Velez. She was not only personable, kind, and a pleasure to talk to, but she HAS THE SKILLS! I was so impressed by her ability to assess my hair, her comprehension of my needs and expectations, and I could not believe how precise she is in her technique. My hair looks beautiful! I consider her my new stylist and will continue having her care for my hair. Great job, Val! She delivered the goods for me and Im sure shell do the same for you, I highly recommend her!

I did some research on multiple salons before deciding to get my hair cut. Hawthorn just stuck out to me because the environment seemed very friendly and they were very professional! Alyssa was my stylist and she did AMAZING!! My hair was long, to the middle of my back and I wanted it cut into a bob. She got to know me and what I wanted in my cut before she even touched me and that just shows she cares about her work because usually stylist will ask for pics then say okay and start. Alyssa talked with me for about 5-10 minutes about the style and how I wanted it to look. When she was done she made me feel very confident in my new hairstyle and she took her time and I loved everything about her and the salon! I 10/10 recommend this salon. I will definitely be returning for the touch ups and possible coloring!

I have been going here for the last 3 years. I stumbled upon the shop while I was trying to find a new place to get a haircut. I was out of my phase of going to cheaper places and never being satisfied with my cut.To say I have never gone anywhere else to cut my hair is to say the least. I have driven 3 hours back to get my haircut here. I love everyone here. They all have been so nice and always give me a great haircut.Though I usually go for a trim and some bangs, I have never been disappointed. Each stylist has cut it in their own unique way and I have loved all of them. I have gotten a different person every time I come since I go with whoever is available. I usually am only in town for a short time and do not mind.

Just wow! I adore everything about Hawthorn Salon. I got my hair colored last night with Tish and have been over the moon happy with the results. I think for the last 10 years, I‘ve wanted to go blonde and just never got what I wanted, but Tish and the staff asked such detailed questions, took the time to listen to me, look at my picture inspiration and exceeded my expectations. Scheduling was incredibly easy, the location is stunning and clean. Every person I interacted with was professional and friendly. I’m so so happy I tried this salon and look forward to going back for all future hair needs. Cannot recommend this spot enough!!

I wanted to leave this review on behalf of my grandmother after she got a pixie cut from Zoey. This is our second time coming back and it’s always absolutely the best haircut she’s ever had. After years of looking for someone and receiving very disappointing cuts, my grandmother is always left speechless by the transformation Zoey does, she is a true artist in her field and really knows how to find the perfect fit for your needs. Just beautiful work and I myself was shocked at how much more better this haircut was than any other before. Very happy we were recommended here by another salon and will never have anyone besides Zoey do my grandmothers cuts again!

I was in town for a couple of days and just wanted to have fresh color for my vacation. My stylist was Marlana. I didn’t give her much direction, just knew I wanted it lighter and different than what I have. She did PHENOMENAL! I absolutely love my hair color. You know your hair looks great when you catch a glimpse in a window and do a double take. I also loved having the option of an adult beverage, nothing more relaxing than drinking a hard seltzer and getting your hair done.Thank you for such a great experience!!

Awesome staff! I got my highlights done and they didnt turn out how they should of. I called up the salon and they told me come in and they got me in real fast. The hair dresser that got it fixed was Alyssa, she did magiccccc to my hair and I had the late appointment. She didnt rush me or anything. She is just a great!!! This is my favorite salon i’ve ever been to! my first visit was with Alyssa, she was so sweet and gave me the best haircut i’ve ever gotten. with my second visit, i accidentally scheduled it with someone else and i wasn’t happy with how my hair turned out but the salon owner reached out to me and scheduled Alyssa to fix it for me for free and i couldn’t be happier with how it came out! i definitely recommend this salon to everyone.

I want to start off saying how much I love this salon- its friendly and all of the staff have been phenomenal. I feel very calm and at home when I come in, and Ive been swearing by this salon since September 21!Started off coming in just for curtain bangs and layers, then had hiccups with my hair not holding color/and miscommunication about what to expect with my hair and my stylist Zoey worked with me until we got what I had wanted and we found a routine that really worked for me. Kudos to the team and Zoey for answering all my questions!I still swear by this salon and would (and do!) recommend them to everyone I can!!

First time getting haircut there. Loved it! The atmosphere was in style & love the aesthetic. I got Taylor, who understood what I wanted & gave me what I asked for. She was fun to talk to & i was in & out within 40mins. I honestly thought it was going to cost more than $45 for a cut, wash & style there. I have always enjoyed every hair cut Ive ever gotten here. I recommend Haley! She listens to what you want and isnt afraid of doing something daring (I went in with waist length hair and left with a super chic lob that I have LOVED rocking). She is AWESOME! Super bubbly, fun to talk to, my appointments fly by. I usually hate going to get my hair cut but I have an appointment every 8 weeks now. :)

Peyton was a fantastic stylist! Fantastic because she was Knowledgeable, friendly, kind, confident but not overbearing. She was gentle, which isn’t always the case with a stylists I’ve had elsewhere. Also, there wasn’t forced conversion, but comfortable silence with an occasional conversational topic.The text-to-book appointment feature was easy and fast!The Hawthorn Salon aesthetics are fun and vibey - great design right all the way from the front into the bathroom!

Ask for Ginny! Literally best experience ever. Just moved to Jacksonville, and I adored my hairdresser from home so I was nervous to find a new one. After failed attempts to even get an appointment at other salons, I called Hawthorn and they literally got me in that day. My balayage was like 2 years grown out and Ginny literally saved my hair, and gave me the perfect shade of blonde. I have never been more happy with the results of an appointment. Everyone there is so nice and the salon has the best atmosphere. Even got a beer while I was waiting for my foils to be done lol. Best salon ever

Hawthorn is an awesome salon. I highly recommend! John Henson has been my stylist for over two years, and he is the best in the game. Professional, helpful and downright talented. John is personable and a great listener. He is very detailed and even helps give advice and direction for styling your hair post visit. Hawthorn is amazing. I used to take my appointments when I could get them, so I’ve been to several stylists over the years and I’ve never been disappointed. John has been my go-to for the past year and he is the greatest. I have it colored and cut and I get complements every single time I leave the salon. He listens to what I want but tells me if I need to switch it up. Everyone is so friendly and it’s always running smoothly. Can’t say enough good things about this place!

After 9 years of living in Jacksonville I finally found my salon! Sadly enough, I move in 5 months. I called today to just ask about pricing and to maybe schedule an appointment. They asked me how far away I was and if I could make it there in 20 min cause they just had a cancellation. Turns out to be my lucky day because I was already headed in that direction. The people at the counter were so friendly. The girl that checked me in asked if I would like a beverage and I said, Oh, water is fine. This place is really cool! Ive never been here before to which she replied, In that case, we have more than water, would you like a coke product or a beer? They had me at beer! The stylist that I was booked with was so nice, she took the time to listen to me and what I wanted. She was a great conversationalist and a great stylist. She didnt take offense when I asked if she could take a little more bulk out and she also gave some advice on how to style my hair for my texture and hair type. I am so glad I found Hawthorn, but I regret I didnt find it sooner.

Couldnt have asked for a better experience! We were visiting in Jax and my husband and I both needed haircuts. The Hawthorne was the perfect place for both of us. Enjoyed a glass of wine and had haircuts. Gayla was a fantastic for my short hair - very personable and very knowledgeable. She was great at providing recommendations too. Then Alyssa did a Balayage hair color treatment and it looks fantastic. She did a wonderful job. Everyone from the receptionist to the assistants to the stylists were all very welcoming, personable and professional. AND what an incredible atmosphere too!

Ive been going to Hawthorn for almost 4 years now. I may just be the pickiest person when it comes to someone cutting my hair, and I have always walked out of Hawthorn with a great cut and style. Ive been to Jim, Martha, and Aimee and all three are great and talented in their own ways. I have very (VERY) thick hair and love it in a cute bob or even shorter. Aimee seems to just my hair and I cant say enough about her talent (and awesome personality!). Some of the stylists have long wait periods to get an appointment, but they are worth the wait! I think the amount I pay is right on for the talent and quality cuts/highlights Im receiving. I drive all the way from Saint Johns to get a cut every 4-5 weeks. Its worth the 30+ minute travel time there. Im so glad I found Hawthorn - I will continue to go to them for years to come.

Really pleased with my first trip to this salon. I went from long curly hair to a short pixie with Christina, and she made me feel very comfortable with this big change. She listened to my maintenance needs, my concerns about my hair type and spent some time playing with my hair before taking scissors to it. Even the front desk staff made sure I had an appointment with someone that was experienced with pixies rather than just finding any opening. They use bumble and bumble products and know how to share styling tips without trying to push any products at the end of the visit. The place is funky, clean and staff were friendly. Ill be back for my trim.

Its always scary to switch salons, I procrastinated so long to commit to try somewhere new. I honestly worried that this place was too trendy for me when I walked in, the staff are all beautiful and impeccably dressed. However, 5 minutes after sitting down in Gaylas chair all of that anxiety went right our the window. She is the first hair stylist to really genuinely listen to what I wanted, and give me exactly what I asked for. Now, after a few times of having her cut my hair, I 100% trust her to make those creative decisions and my hair has gotten even better. Id give her more stars if I could, and honestly the rest of the staff have been nothing but friendly and kind, so dont be intimidated!

Loved the service here. Tiffany was wonderful. The only reason for my 4 instead of 5 is the price. As a mom on a budget, almost $50 (after tip) is really hard to part with for a haircut. I came in because the last salon I was at ruined my color. I texted the number on their Instagram explaining what happen. Literally within 24 hours they found a way to get me in. Hannah was my hairdresser and she literally did everything she could to give me healthy hair and find a color that I liked. Below is my original review, but I must add this adjustment: Within hours of posting this review, the business owner called me to talk about my experience. She explained to me that my experience was not typical of what people get when the come to Hawthorn, and that my stylist was having an off day. I wont go into details, but the information she shared with me was presented as an explanation, but not an excuse, and I can sympathize- everyone has bad days. She also refunded every dime of what I spent there, which is above an beyond the call of duty and what is expected, especially for a small business. I will DEFINITELY be back to Hawthorn to give them a second chance, because after speaking with the business owner, my faith in them has been reaffirmed and I can truly tell that this business is owned by amazing, caring people.ORIGINAL REVIEW:I have hesitated to write this review for months, but I decided to finally go ahead and do it. I chose to go to Hawthorn because they have excellent reviews and the photos on their Instagram are fantastic, but I definitely didnt have the same experience.My biggest issue is that the whole time I was there, I felt like I was somehow inconveniencing my stylist. I realize that I have a LOT of hair (decently thick and down to the middle of my back), and that dying my whole head is quite a process, but the whole time she seemed annoyed with me and I felt like an imposition. There was barely any small talk, just straight to business. When someone does your hair, there is a sense of intimacy to it. This person is altering your appearance, is in your personal space for an extended period of time, and is touching you constantly throughout the process. The last thing I want to feel is like my decision to spend my hard-earned money there and my presence is somehow annoying them. In general, it was a really uncomfortable experience and I couldnt wait to leave.My next issue is about the aforementioned hard-earned money- for a cut, color, and tip, my bill was over $300. I realize that at a nicer salon like Hawthorn you can expect to pay a bit more, but since then I have done a good bit of comparison pricing at other salons, and $300 is absurd.Lastly, when my stylist was finishing my hair, I asked her multiple times not to blow dry my hair with the round brush- I despise the way my hair looks when it is blown out with a round brush, and I had errands to run and plans for the evening and wanted to look nice. I expressed this, as well as asking if she could just blow dry it and maybe quickly run the flat iron through my hair, which is my daily routine. Instead, she used the round brush on my entire head, so I ended up with my hair in a top knot for the entire night to cover up the blowout.Im really disappointed- I was hoping to find a new place that I could consistently go back to to get my hair done, but Hawthorn definitely isnt it and I definitely wont be back.

Corinne is amazing! Ive been going to her for cuts and colors for over a year now. She can do anything from timeless cuts, subtle balayage, and playful/edgy styles. Her talent is really versatile. I actually no longer live in Jacksonville, but I still make the 1.5 hour drive (one way) back to Jax just to get my haircut. I wouldnt go to anyone else!The salon is always clean and stylish. Customer service is excellent. There have been several times where Ive called to be put on the waitlist for a particular day if I know Ill be in town, and theyve always squeezed me. Not to mention, it doesnt get any easier than online scheduling.

Im biracial and you better know I have that kinky curly corkscrew hair. My stylist was kaylee. She was abesolutely amazing. She took time to talk to me about what I wanted done, and made sure throughout that I was happy with how it was going. When we reached another stage (I was getting balayage and a bob like cut) she would talk to me about what she thought would look best and asked me what I wanted. She made sure she wasnt hurting me and was great with figuring out the ratio of the length of my curls (dry to wet). This is the happiest I ever remember being with my hair. Im obsessed.

They are busy so make sure you book appointments in advance. The staff is friendly, service is good. Ive been going here since they opened. The owners are wonderful people, the stylists are top notch, and the products while on the expensive side are also top notch. When you walk in they offer you beer, wine, coffee and other beverages. This is a great salon.
