I used to hate my curls. I’ve been getting a curly cut from James for the past 5 years and always love my curls a little more after each visit. He’s managed them as they’ve changed through two pregnancies and taught me how to maintain them also.I decided to try keratin this visit and he helped me pick which treatment would be best for my hair and how to care for it.It’s never been shinier! I love James, my curls, and the couple hours of therapy. Could not recommend more.

James is simply the best. I’ll admit—I’m not the most loyal when it comes to stylists 😬, but I’ve been seeing James for nearly three years. Want to avoid random strangers stopping you to compliment your color? Then don’t see James. He’s that good. He goes above and beyond, offering honest advice on how to care for your hair outside the salon—not just pushing products. On top of that, he’s a genuinely great human and an absolute joy to be around. I always look forward to great conversation and leaving with great hair!

James listen to my ideas, and graciously guides me in the direction that is best for my hair color, best for the amount of work and maintenance I want to put in on a daily basis, and he is simply a joy to be around. I have a mane of naturally curly hair. Ive been living in Jacksonville for 3+ years and trying different stylists/salons looking for someone who knows how to cut, style, and care for my hair type. I usually go to a new person once and ask for an easy cut as a trial...and never go back because stylists often dont listen or cant deliver what I want.I just went to James for the second time and finally asked for the shape I really want. This cut has more layers and an overall oval shape while still long enough to go past my shoulders. I was always afraid to ask someone to cut that much of my hair on the first visit! He earned my trust when I saw him in July so this time, I went for it.I am so happy with my hair - the cut and the styling. It looks so healthy and bouncy. My curls are gorgeous and there is so much movement. James has the know-how and is such a nice, funny person. Shout out to Tiffany for the great wash and curl work! Ill definitely be back.

It is hard for me to believe that the below review from Bill Bobags is real. It is clearly from a disgruntled and bitter competitor. James had his salon open for just one day when that review was posted, and I know directly from James that he did not have any men on his books that first day. So please disregard that fake review, as it is an outright lie from a person with no moral compass.OK, now that I have that out of the way, I would like to share just a sliver of some of my experiences over the last 15 years that I have been going to see him: James is the most talented hair stylist that I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. I have been going to him faithfully since the day of my first appt in NYC in 2009. I have followed him around the country -- both flying and driving 8 hours to see him. He does my entire familys hair. After I had a baby and was not able to travel to see him, I went to someone else who botched my hair color, and he got it back to where it needed to be seamlessly. The interesting thing about that situation was that James even gave me the exact color formula he uses on me and made a video to show the two hair stylists I tried locally how to get the color right. Despite having the exact formula and a video of his method, neither of the two colorists I tried were able to get it correct. For me, that delineates how incredibly skilled he is, and also his kindness in sharing the formula that he perfected over the years with other stylists. Not only is James beyond talented, he is also a joy to be with. He is an amazing person, truly one of a kind, and as long as he will have me, I will be a loyal James Joyce client.
