This review is long overdue. I had an amazing experience at The Curl We Live In from the moment I walked in the door. Jessica made me feel super comfortable and listened to my routine, preferences and concerns. I have never really felt that way with any other stylist. She gave me the perfect cut and helped me to find products that actually work. I was never pushed into buying products that I wouldnt actually use. I appreciate the time she took to make sure I understood what she was doing and how to replicate it once I got home. I received an email detailing products she used, steps to refresh and many recommendations around Jacksonville. Jessica is truly one of kind and I cant wait for my next haircut.

I don’t know where to start, Jessica is absolutely an amazing human and an extremely talented and knowledgeable stylist! She taught me so much about my hair and the cut, just perfection! This was the first hair cut I didnt feel like I had to recover from. A month (+) later and my style/shape are holding perfectly.The experience was very customized to my needs and hair. Jessica does her research and cares about how you prefer to be seen. It was so refreshing to experience.The payment model was also refreshing and easy. Historically I have found classic cutteries and salons overwhelming and overbearing. We were in communication beforehand and I knew what to expect.This was a perfect welcome back to allowing another to cut my hair in over a decade.My curl pattern is mostly 3b, medium to fine hair, and medium, to lower density.Thank you Jessica - Very happy to have found your work and that we crossed paths

Jessica you are literally so fabulous!I’ve struggled finding a hairdresser for a very long time for multiple reasons outside of moving all the time! I have very thick, long hair that has a bit of a wave to lose curl pattern. Everyone I’ve been to previously would cut my hair for straight hair and I’d often go for days without washing my hair because of how long it took to style and blow dry straight just to have frizz and oily scalp within 24 hours – too much work!! It was also usually very blunt, wet cuts that showed every line that was chopped which was less than cute.After trying every curly girl method and product under the sun I’d pretty much given up on achieving my natural hair as well and just kind of let it do what it wanted or had it in braids most of the time. I can say after one session with Jessica and having my first at home wash by myself today, I’M IN LOVE! Jessica is so thorough and is an amazing listener who really cares about the client, their experience, and helping them achieve their hair goals. We found a cut I was comfortable with and a THREE PRODUCT MAX experience that has worked so well in just under a week. My curls are back, I’m not greasy or oily, I can refresh so easily, and I owe each of those successes to Jessica. I also got follow up emails with my method, products, and instructions straight after my appointment which was SOO helpful when going to wash my hair and style it alone for the first time. I already felt confident leaving the appointment, but now it’s 10x the confidence watching it dry into my beautiful, natural curls! For my styling, I was looking for as minimal as I could go so with no defuser needed and three products, I’ve achieved exactly what my goal was.If you are looking for someone who truly cares and goes above and beyond for her people, you need to book with Jessica. A shiny glossy look, a beautiful hair color, perfect layers, and fresh curls I didn’t even realize my hair had!! Curly Girlies Look no further for your next curly cut! Jessica is absolutely amazing and made my experience the best. I was doing my first ever super short haircut and meeting with her made all my nerves ease because i knew i was in good hands. I wish i could give more than five stars but google is limiting me. She was really invested in getting to know my hair and styling practices and shared so many tips, products, and advice on how to best care for my hair. Her space was so warm and inviting and she has the best snacks. Cant wait for next haircut!!

AMAZING EXPERIENCE!!!!I have really long curly hair and I barely get my hair cut because it’s hard to find someone who knows what they’re doing without chopping it all off!! I went to a salon a few years ago and I’m not sure what they put in my hair, but I lost the majority of my curls and I was devastated. I heard about Jessica from a friend and gave it a shot.Let’s just say I GOT MY CURLS BACK, and I am so so, so so happy!!!I really thought that my curly hair and curl pattern was lost but she helped me find the right products to make my hair shiny and healthy and enhance my natural curls. She educated me on the correct way to brush my hair and how to revive my curls! I used all my new products today and I am so happy with the outcome and directions I received from Jessica. The whole appointment was wonderful from consultation, wash, style and cut all were methodically explained. I felt at ease and even more educated when I left. Jessica is a no BS no frills specialists and that is illustrated through her knowledge of products, techniques and overall understanding of the way curly hair functions. Any questions or concerns I had she answered them and made me feel totally at ease. The salon itself has an atmosphere of loving and inviting. Jessica was more than amazing! I have been fighting my curly hair my entire life and have recently begun to embrace it. You are welcomed so warmly, Jessica has you bring in your products so she can teach you how to properly use them or suggest something better for your hair. She explains everything she is doing and teaches you how to style your hair when you leave the salon. You even get a personalized email write up with instructions on products/styling to refer to. You can tell Jessica actually cares about helping and educating curly haired people instead of just trying to make a buck. She talks to you as a friend and individual, not just a client. Im so glad I found Jessica. The entire experience from beginning to end was exceptional. Jessica really pours her heart into her work and its easy to see. This was the most interactive haircut Ive ever had. Jessica and I talked about what I wanted, what my concerns were, and my current hair routine. She uses not just her vast knowledge on hair, especially curly hair, but her own real life experience is mixed in as well, which I find invaluable. Jessica explains thoroughly what shes doing and the why behind it. She educated me on my current hair routine and provided feedback on what would work better for my hair. In the end, I was blown away seeing my hair. I love the cut and all of the advice and suggestions provided by Jessica. I highly recommend seeing Jessica if youve about had it with your curls. Can’t recommend enough! Beyond the incredible job she did on my hair, Jessica was so nice and made me feel so welcomed! Before we started, we had a discussion about my current curly routine and what I was looking for and I have never been more happy with how my hair turned out! She is extremely thorough too. She even sent me a follow up email detailing what we talked about and how to spruce up my routine based on my specific hair. She also told me if I went home and found a piece of my cut that I wanted fixed, I could come back in. Of course, the haircut was totally perfect, but it’s still so nice to offer that, as well. The whole experience is extremely personalized and you can tell she is passionate about her work! She’s the real deal. Take this as your sign to go see her! Cutting curly hair is so hard and Jessica does it perfectly!

Jessica is fantastic! I love her energy and all her knowledge about curly hair. Ive been trying to get my curls healthier since 2019. Ive learned how to take care of them but I needed it to get an easier routine for wash day. Jessica help me reduce the amount of products I use to one, maybe two products from the almost 12 I had. She also was able to teach me a technique to go from 45 to probably 8 to 10 minutes routine for wash days. Plus, she taught me how to care my hair for 7 days!!! and my curls look good not only on wash day but the whole 7 days.... I was lucky I found her! Highly recommended her!!!!

Jessica made me love my hair more. I recently moved to Jacksonville from the Northeast (Philadelphia area). It rains out of nowhere in Jacksonville, and I love to straighten my hair because I thought it made my GRWM routine easier. But rain turns my straightened hair curly. So I leaned in, made an appointment, and let the master do her thing. I used to like my curls but now I love them. And her hair knowledge is uncanny. And P.S. as a woman of color taught to never let anyone touch her hair, I didn’t even think twice. She’s awesome!

I had my first appointment last night with Jessica and can I just say... it was life changing! The curl struggle is SO REAL! And shes THE magician that teaches you in one session how to transform your curls, with the RIGHT (for you and your hair) products! If I could rate more than 5 stars I would. I feel like I found someone who I trust on the other side of the scissors with my beautiful but treacherously difficult to care for curls! The products in just one day have made my curls less frizzy and more defined ringlets. I AM SO HAPPY!!! I cant wait for my planned color treatment. The experience was great. Jessica really takes the time to listen to you in order to give your hair the best treatment possible and give you some advice if that is what you wish. She does not try to push products on you. She’s very honest and and professional. If something doesn’t seem to work she gives suggestions on what to change to make it work next time. If there’s something she can’t do she will be honest about it and point you in the right direction instead of lying about being able to do it, which is very refreshing. She’s got a lovely attitude and is very easy to talk to. Her approach is very personal and doesn’t make you feel like just another face passing thru. I loved her, loved the experience and loved my haircut. I will most definitely be returning for my future trims/cuts.
