    Dean is an artist! I love his vision! His suggestions for color and cut were exactly what I was looking for. The place is so inviting, peaceful and relaxing. I absolutely love the ambiance.     There is not a high enough rating scale for Dean’s talents. I started going to him about 5 years ago after a huge goof at another salon. My hair was fried and actually had a chunk missing where they had fried it off. Past my shoulders ruined hair. Dean brought my hair back to life and is also just a great person to be around. Balayage, highlights, ash blonde, beach blonde, red, layers, trim, textured ends. He is amazingly talented and does a rock star job at all of it. Carries the best products but is never a pushy sales person. I cannot say enough good things. Go! You deserve it!Updating 2022 with photos from our almost 7 years of hair adventures!!     I have been waiting my entire adult life to find a stylist like Dean! Not only does he do BEAUTIFUL hair, he has a beautiful soul! He is constantly taking classes and seminars to stay up to date with the latest hair technology. Hair is his passion and it shows. I decided to go blonde last year and have been so incredibly happy with what Dean has been able to do. I have had warm blonde, ashy blonde and dirty blonde and each time he matched my vision exactly. My hair always has beautiful dimension and has NEVER felt crispy or damaged. Im so happy I found him, Im never going anywhere else! Best stylist in the area!

    I am new in town and found Dean via Google reviews so Im here to add to alllll the praises he receives. First, Dean is so friendly and personable, I knew I liked him right from the start. Thats half the battle when looking for a hair stylist that you can trust. :) He explained what he wanted to do while keeping the integrity of my hair as healthy as possible.     Dean was fantastic! This was my very first time sitting in Dean’s chair for a color and cut. I just recently moved here and finding a new stylist can often be scary. Dean was welcoming, attentive, fun and a true professional. He even knew without me telling where I needed to take some of the weight from my hair.     How to start.... It’s like love at first sight! He was so professional and friendly that I felt very comfortable at his salon. The salon is clean and cute! Even I told him “do whatever you want”, he asked before doing things to make sure I will agree and like it. My hair is wavy/curly and he straightened it so fast! Today’s my second day with my hair done and it looks fresh! (He used only his products, hair dryer and iron.)

    Dean is the absolute best! Not only does Dean do a fantastic job on my hair but he is also a friendly ear. I started seeing Dean when I was a brunette wanting to go back to my natural blonde color.     WOW!! My glamorizing session with Dean was hands down the best salon experience Ive ever had!!! From our first virtual interaction, his expertise, kindness, and passion for healthy hair were very apparent. He heard me, like really heard me, regarding my concerns with previously botched highlights, and understood my vision for creating a subtle glow, while repairing a lot of damage.Now on to our actual appointment.. well let me tell you.. I was absolutely a priority from the beginning to the end!!     Dean is simply amazing. Dean is a master colorist. I have dark brown hair and like to go blond. Dean always gets it right without my hair getting brassy. He is also great at cutting and styling too. So, you know your hair is going to look great. Love his salon, it adorable. He carries great products as well.     Beautiful color by the amazing Dean! ❤️Dean has been doing my hair for the last 20 years plus. He is a master with color, too. He does a terrific job of hiding my gray while blending my natural color which I like. He styles my hair with perfection in cuts and styles. I get compliments on my hair on a regular basis. His salon is a peaceful, comfortable place to relax while he works his gifted skills. We have meaningful conversations.     To say Dean is amazing is an understatement. He helped me turn my hair into everything I ever wanted and more. He fixed what I thought would be un-fixable! I had a bad highlight that turned my hair all sorts of different colors and Dean worked his magic to give me the most beautiful mushroom brown dimensional color I could’ve only dreamed of having!     Words cannot express how much I love Dean. I recently moved to the area and had visited another salon that had butchered my hair (uneven striped highlights, choppy layers, and about 5-6 inches shorter than I had wanted). I came to Dean in hopes he could fix what had been done. I instantly connected with Dean. He was so welcoming, confident he could fix the uneven highlights and even out the cut, and we had the most meaningful conversation crossing a wide range of topics. He under-promised and over-delivered in the best possible way. It was truly a wonderful experience…think salon experience meets therapy session, but in the most relaxing and organic way. When I got home, my kids and husband all agreed my hair looked 1000% better. My only regret was not coming to see Dean sooner. I had been hesitant to make an appointment because I feared he would be overbooked, but he managed to squeeze me in and I couldn’t be more thrilled. He also followed up with me after my appointment to make sure I was happy and to make a recommendation to helpmy hair grow out faster.

    UPDATED 11/19/2021This was my second haircut and color and I couldnt be happier yet again. Before I left my office I told one of the ladies at work I was going to get my hair done and she said your hair looks so healthy. And that was before the hair cut and color. The last hair cut and color was still looking spectacular. I love the color and cut and the color is long lasting and blends perfectly with all my dimensions of my own hair. Dean is a color master!!Just met Dean for the first time and we discussed the best course for my hair color. I’m super excited for my upcoming appointment and I know he’s going to do a great job on my hair color and cut.Updated 7/16/2021First time customer with Dean and had an amazing experience. We did a consultation a few months back and I booked my appointment then. Came in for the color and cut and we chatted about the game plan.     I have been going to Dean for a year now. Every time I have made an appointment I have been more than thrilled with the results. He makes sure to keep track of what I had done the previous time. He really cares about giving me the best experience. He always does what is needed and does not try to sell me on more expensive treatments. I have curly hair and very picky about my hair. I do not let many people touch it due to many horrible experiences of people cutting off way too much hair or attempting to give me layers which turns into puffy hair. Dean has never disappointed in any work he has done. I came in with a picture of what I wanted and he was very realistic of what he could do to get me to that point. I have had many friends show stylist what they would like done and end up walking out with toner still in their hair or completely the wrong color. I have been happy with each visit and look forward to seeing him this month.

    Dean is an amazing hair stylist, Ive seen his work with womens hair, but also he does my hair, and it is always on point. Hes dyed it once and cut it many times and it has come out exactly the way i wanted it and i would say even better. I used to go to Great Clips to get my hair cut but I will be getting it done by a professional from now on! He creates a fun and comfortable environment, he is incredibly knowledgeable about how hair works and can fix any hair problem you have! Ive never had my hair washed and conditioned with a mens cut before and it was a very pleasant experience. I would recommend Dean to anyone, men and women! You wont be disappointed!

    I first met Dean a couple of months ago. I originally was loyal to a stylist in Ybor City. I wasn’t happy with her work for awhile now. My highlights were uneven and my hair was over processed and damaged. I finally decided I needed to find another stylist. I live in Wesley Chapel and wanted to find someone in this area. I googled hair salons and came across Dean. The reviews I read were very convincing, and decided to make an appointment.Dean is a very talented stylist. After analyzing my hair he knew exactly what the issues were and how to correct it and make my hair healthier again. I was surprised with how pretty my hair looked after one appointment with him. Can’t wait for my second. He is very professional, honest, experienced, talented and truly cares about your hair. I’m so glad I finally found the right stylist.

    After moving to FL from NJ I was worried about finding a new stylist in the area. I had been going to my old one for years and was nervous about trying someone new.     Dean Downing @ Mystylistdean is a cutting edge cosmetologist. After moving to Florida from Illinois where I had the same stylist cut my hair for 15 years I struggled to find someone who could cut my hair like I wanted. I met Dean and let him give me a haircut. It was a great cut and was above all the rest. That was 7 years ago. I also recently finished cosmetology school myself and through my journey Dean has been a helpful addition to my learning as I have shadowed him on several occasions in his salon. His experience as a stylist and educator have proven to be beneficial to me as I have learned many things not taught to me at school. His professionalism and passion for hair shows in his work.     Went for the first time to see Dean to get my hair done in preparation for my 40th Class Reunion. I told him that my original plan for my reunion was too look fabulous with some weight loss but there was none of that because I had not tried.     Dean is hands down the best hairdresser I have ever been to. His knowledge and skill far exceeds that of anyone else who has worked on my hair in the past. My hair was dry, dull, and lifeless from years of coloring. He somehow managed to make it vibrant, healthy and thicker. The color line he uses actually conditions my hair. I had a ton of hair fall out after both of my babies were born and the cuts he did really made it look and feel thicker. I always leave his chair feeling confident and sexy. It is such a relief knowing my hair is one less thing I have to worry about because I am in the best hands possible!!

    I’ve spent 100s on my hair for one appointment traveling for 1+ hours to Tampa. After moving to Wesley chapel I didn’t want to travel anymore because of time/babies. Dean transformed my hair while saving me so much $. I had a mixture of dark brown/gray hair and I was trying to be blonde to hide the gray. 1st appt he changed the blend/shade of blonde and made my hair look so natural despite all of the dramatic colors.
