I had been doing my own hair for about 8 years before I went to San Carlos. I would bleach it, miss a bunch of spots & just put color over it to hide the imperfections. I had myself trapped in a bathroom with two mirrors trying to get the back of my head, all while choking on the fumes from the chemicals. I did my pinks, oranges, blues, greens, blacks, everything under the sun. Of course, if I was not happy with it, I could blame myself and try again in two months. And at the time, it was fine.However, as I transitioned from my old job to my new career, I found myself needing something different, but appropriate for the workplace (if I could, my whole head would be bright colors, but c’est la vie). I knew that I could not achieve this myself, so I sought out a professional.I had finally made the decision to stop doing my own hair. And when I tell you my life has changed forever; I WILL NOT GO BACK TO DOING IT MYSELF! Gabby did such an amazing job all around, I could never think of going to another stylist (unless approved by Gabby herself!). Not only did she fix all my cover ups, she did my bangs, gave me a new cut, & then did the cutest pastels that can be hidden easily while I am at work. If I am ever able to do full neon colors on my head, Gabby is the first & only person I am going to!I am so grateful for everyone at San Carlos for being exceptionally sweet & kind. It really is a great environment. I was there for about five hours for my color, and not once did I think it was taking too long or that I was uncomfortable. I thank you all for doing such a tremendous job!The products they also use are fabulous! I honestly love the products recommended to me (the texture spray & the oil).Can’t wait for my next appt.!

I’ve been seeing Austin Garcia for almost a year now, and I’m so thankful I found him! He truly honors my natural curls, and I always leave feeling confident and cared for. Austin always uses thoughtful techniques from the way he cuts hair to applying color or highlights.I had started noticing some thinning/breakage in my hair before coming here, but after using the LANZA products Austin recommended, I’ve seen such a positive change in the health and fullness of my hair. The L’ANZA Healing Strength Neem Plant Silk Serum has drastically improved the strength of my hair and it makes my hair super shiny, bouncy, and smells amazing.And I have to give some love to the front desk team - they’re just as much a part of what makes this place feel special. I genuinely look forward to seeing them every time I walk in. The whole vibe is consistent, warm, and professional. You can feel the heart of this family-run business in every detail. I always leave feeling seen, heard, and truly cared for - and that’s everything.It’s more than just a hair appointment - it’s self-care with heart.

I have been searching for a hair salon that specializes in working with natural/curly hair for a WHILE. With no luck finding a place in my town, I decided to widen my search radius. That’s how I found Salon San Carlos & I’m so happy I decided to try them out. I booked a cut/color appointment with Nick & made the 2 hour drive to Pensacola. From the minute I stepped foot in the salon, I had nothing but a pleasant experience! The receptionist greeted me, checked me in & offered me snacks/refreshments. My wait time was minimal. The salon is upbeat, clean & had an overall fun/friendly vibe! Nick was phenomenal! He was so attentive and really put in the effort to achieve my hair goals. He was so fun & easy to talk to. It genuinely felt like I was getting my hair done by my friend! He is very knowledgeable about all things curly hair, I was very impressed. He even taught me some new things about my hair! To say I’m happy with my results would be an understatement. I’m OBSESSED! It looks better than I ever could have imagined! I will definitely be coming back to see him! 10/10 recommend. It was definitely worth driving 2 hours to come to Salon San Carlos!

This is my all time favorite salon. I live out of town and never know exactly when I will be in Pensacola. The receptionist is always happy to help make a short notice appointment happen for me. I have received outstanding education, styling and cuts each and every time. Gabby Lewis was my most recent stylist and she absolutely delivered! I can’t say enough amazing things about Salon San Carlos.

I have been going to this salon since I moved to Pensacola 3 years ago. The atmosphere is so welcoming. They offer free drinks & snacks & are extremely friendly. They do a wonderful job on my hair every single time & I always have the best conversations. Highly recommend!

Rachel is my stylist and does an amazing job. She is very nice and always asks if you are comfortable. She knew what to do with my hair when I asked her for ideas. The interior of this place is very cozy and well designed and very modern. I highly recommend this salon. The other employees and owners are also very nice people. I see no negatives with this place currently.

I selected Kim Keller as my stylist because I wanted someone with experience and that is exactly what I received. My color and cut were significantly overdue, because we were moving from somewhere else in Florida to Pensacola. I only had to describe in words how I wanted my color and how I preferred my hair to be cut. Kim took my words and magically brought them to life on my completely straight and somewhat fine hair texture. I recommend the Salon San Carlos and I specifically recommend Kim Keller. I consider myself fortunate to have found both the salon and Kim.

This was my LAST chance to get a decent cut before I leave in two weeks on my ⛵️ for good. Everything from the initial frantic call to getting out of the chair was the BEST HAIR EXPERIENCE I HAVE HAD IN A DECADE! Just think about that. I called and said please God if you know anyone who can help brittle grey frizz please let me know. Katie cut and styled better than I could ever imagine. I magically went from grey frizz to a style I’m ready to 💃 WITH!!! I cried when she was finished out of happiness! I can look sexy again! Oh I also LEARNED how to deal with this change in hair…she taught me how to work with it so I do t have to wear a 🎩 EVERYWHERE I GO! If you are suffering from depressed hair this is LIFE CHANGING. Matter of fact: I will come back for medical appointments once a year and make this is mandatory stop

HIGHLY RECOMMEND!! I was very skeptical because I dont trust many salons with my hair since Ive had many experiences with stylists telling me they have experience then leaving my hair looking like a giant frizzy mess or telling me to follow an impossible to maintain in order to upkeep my hair.When I arrived, I was warmly greeted by the front desk staff who offered beverages and asked if there was anything I needed. They were so lovely.My stylist Jennifer was absolutely AMAZING. She was inquisitive because she wanted to make sure we were on the same page so I would have the results Im looking for and she was so receptive to my wants and dislikes. I showed her a picture of the shape I wanted (I only wanted a cut) and she completely understood. She was just so incredible, her attentiveness, the way she explained every single step in the process and even used science with supporting facts. She also explained and demonstrated how to practically care for my hair and style it on a day to day basis to achieve the look I want and overall hair health. ALSO she informed me about curl types, and so much more. I literally am so excited to go back, worth every single penny. LOVE this place!!!P.S.They did not push me to buy any of the products they used. My stylist Jennifer simply mentioned that they were available if I was interested and that was that, I really appreciated that. I did buy the Ouidad gel, its pricy as a brand but good.

On Saturday, November 9, 2024, my daughter and I visited the salon to get our hair done for my daughter’s beach wedding. It was a wonderful experience! Alma and Katey did such a great job for us. Our hair turned out so nice. We both were concerned about our hair not holding up because it was extremely windy but that was not the case at all! Despite the heavy winds on the beach and a night of dancing, our hair was as lovely as when we left the salon. Alma and Katey listened to what we wanted and were so anxious to please. We both got so many compliments on our hair. I highly recommend this salon!! A special thank you to Alma & Katey for taking such good care of us on such an important day, my daughter’s wedding!!

Finding Salon San Carlos was a breath of fresh air. I tried a few different Pensacola salons before coming here, and nothing compares to the lovely welcome that this place offers: a warm hello upon entering, a generous selection of refreshments while you wait, and finally, the staff. I’ve been with Kim for every single service I’ve had here, and she outdoes herself every single time. She makes a considerate effort to get to know her clients, and remembers not just who they are, but the character of their hair as well. She has a special talent for understanding texture, color, length, and layers, and her artistry is evident in the photo below!! My hair is REVIVED with each appointment I make with Kim. With her, getting my haircut is never a chore; it is a pleasure and a little retreat. I highly recommend not just Salon San Carlos, but Kim especially.

I’ve been coming to Salon San Carlos for well over 10 years and it’s always a refreshing and rejuvenating experience. I walk out feeling so confident and they ALWAYS bring my curls back to life. I have seen Jackie for most of my visits, but today saw Jennifer for a curl cut and I’ve also seen Austin one other time in the past. Every experience has been wonderful and just reassures my trust in every individual in this salon! If you’re a curly girl trying to find somewhere that knows curls and how to care for them, just know this is 100% worth the investment. And I commend this salon for always staying with best practices and continuing their education, but also teaching us how to take care of our hair as well!!

I’ve been going to Salon San Carlos for almost 2 years now and wouldn’t go anywhere else!Everyone working there is so kind and welcoming. I’m not super aware of beauty trends and never know what I want, but Jaclyn always knows what’s best for me and my hair. She even asked me for photos of my wedding hair inspo at my closest color to the day so she could make sure it’d go well in the updo. When I decided to chop my hair, it was in part because I trust her so much! Had to post the pony we chopped because the color in it is just so good 🥲.Every time I go, I’m amazed at how good everyone’s hair looks as they leave and how talented all of the stylists are.

I absolutely loved getting my haircut here! My hair was cut, shampoo and conditioned, scalp massaged, and blown dried in a blow out fashion. It was my first time and everyone was so welcoming and friendly upon entering the building. A beverage was offered to me and the lady at the front desk kindly made me a coffee. The atmosphere was relaxing with good music. My stylist was Kayleigh and she nailed the vision I had for my new cut! She was very personable, made me feel comfortable, was a great listener and conversationalist. I really enjoyed my visit and I will definitely be coming back!

I’m so happy I found Salon San Carlos and Jaclyn. This sunny, cheerful salon greets you with drinks and snacks before they get down to business. I had high and low lights added and got a cut. My highlights came out soft, natural and really well blended. Jaclyn took the time to get to know me, and to familiarize herself with my hair. I was very nervous to switch salons (I moved from the Midwest) but now I’ve found a new hair home!

Ms. Alma, is my Hair Artist and she has been helping me meditate on this transformation idea and regain a relationship with my hair since Feb 2022!!Now it’s time!Green Goddess is here!This Deep Emerald Sea Green total fashion color with a short shag cut and made chic with pointed undercut Micro Bangs!!!I AM SO HAPPY WITH IT!!!The entire appointment was a blast! From great conversations, to great snack and drink accommodations ( very helpful in this 5 hour session!), to the empathetic nature and comforting ambiance, this establishment is easily top tier!I am living with my ideal hair!The cut compliments my curly texture while the micro-bang adds an edge and the color is like living Anime!If you are looking to feel like a brand new being and bring your creativity to life, please do yourself a favor and check out the amazing stylists at Salon San Carlos.

I am impressed by this salon, and with Jen!I just had my very first curly haircut from Jen today, and I love it! Jen was very friendly and informative. She gave me really good tips on styling my curly hair naturally and did a phenomenal job on the cut and style. I will be going back in a few weeks to get my hair colored and am very excited for what we have planned! Ill update once I get it colored.

We went to Columbia in August for a wedding and even in that crazy humid and hot weather my hair looked great! I do not splurge on my hair very often, but decided to finally get a maintenance cut before I start a new job! I had had a few friends go to this salon in the past, so I decided to book as well. I was pleased that I was offered water while waiting (Ya’ll know this Florida heat is not joke), and even though I was super early for my appointment, Savannah called me back right away. She is very sweet and easy to talk to. She made my hair feel healthy again! I would definitely recommend Savannah and this entire salon in general!

This is by far the best experience I have ever had at a salon. I have been treated like a goddess by Kim. She listened and even was able to determine what I wanted when I struggled to put it into words. When I first moved to Florida back in 2015, I went to quite a few salons trying to find someone who I like and didnt mess up my hair! Its was about impossible 🤣 But I found Salon San Carlos and I was placed with Jaclyn and she was amazing! I have now been going to her for years for haircuts and amazing color updates and just recently brought my mom to Kim and she loved her as well! I will definitely never go anywhere else. The price is a little above my liking sometimes but its worth it because the employees here are very skilled and do a very professional job! I love coloring my hair, so its very easy for someone to ruin your hair with over doing color or cheap dyes, but I always have amazing results here!!

Had my first ever curly cut with Jacki, and she was phenomenal! She is so knowledgeable and educated me on each step of styling my hair. She suggested products to use, as well as those that I should steer clear of so they don’t weigh my hair down, and answered all my questions. I think I’m still in shock by how good my hair looks after she styled it. Definitely recommend her if you’re looking for help with your wavy/curly hair.

Been here twice and had great and quick service each time! My stylist has been Katey and shes very knowledgeable and knows what shes doing. Great conversationalist but also will let you relax if youre more comfortable with not talking during the cut + style. None of the staff were pushy on products: they informed what they recommend for use, what they were using, and why. Did make some small product purchases both times to try things out for daily styling. All the staff are very courteous and the salon has a relaxed modern vibe, so it feels fresh and trendy but comfortable. Would recommend for anybody that wants the full salon service experience of feeling well cared for / pampered with expert staff who can consult on your specific needs.

Everyone was super friendly, it was a very relaxed environment, they offered snacks and drinks before/ during your service (will definitely opt into the coffee next time), and most importantly my hair came out exactly how I wanted it. Ive been growing it out and staying away from heat styling for over a year so I was anxious about getting my curls cut, but Elizabeth did such an amazing job I wish I could give her more than 5 stars. I cannot say enough good things! I have fine wavy/curly hair. I have been to many “curl specialists” in the past who had absolutely no idea what to do with my hair texture. This is the first time someone has understood my hair and I’ve left a salon with a style that enhanced my natural texture and that I didn’t have to go home and fix. My color looks fantastic and my cut is great. 10/10. Elizabeth is fantastic.

Loved!!! I had a more than pleasant experience at Salon San Carlos. I did my initial consultation with Kimberly and she was so patient listening to every little thing i’ve done to my hair in the past and gave me more than one option on how to repair the damage i’ve done. I was able to come in super excited for my appointment and super confident in Kim’s ability to deliver great results. She was super kind and explained every step she did and highlighted why using the proper products were important, especially for my curly hair. We had great conversation and overall I enjoyed my time at the salon. I was nervous to go into any salon, because it had been about 12 years since my last professional cut, but everyone was super welcoming, the place was clean, and they’re a GREEN salon!!

Love this salon! There is talent behind every chair. I have been coming here for years, and have had multiple stylists. Consistently fantastic service every time. The family who owns the business seems truly wonderful.I get the impression that they have a rigorous practice of continuing education for their stylists. They also have a recycling/waste disposal program that is greener than some traditional salons. Great local business.

Ive gotten two hair cuts on my curly hair done at Salon San Carlos. The first time was in 2020 with a stylist who no longer works there, and that hair cut experience was very enjoyable. The second time was October 2022, when I got a curly cut with Nick. The hair cut with Nick was the best hair cut experience Ive ever had. Nick took his time with the whole process- detangling, washing, cutting, and styling. He is very knowledgeable in his field and taught me so much during my hair cut with him. And the conversation stayed flowing, which was nice (no awkward silences!). If I wasnt moving out of the area, I would 100% get my hair cut here again!

My first experience with Salon San Carlos was exceptional! I saw Kim and will be back to see her again. She is extremely knowledgeable and let me know what she was doing every step of the way. I have naturally curly hair and have never been able to get the cut exactly how I want it(cutting and dealing with curly hair can be difficult)but she cut it perfectly!! The business itself is really clean and well organized and the other employees were just as welcoming and friendly as Kristen! Curly haired girls - 10/10 would recommend! I love my hair, Kim was wonderful from the consultation to the final product. I have ridiculously naturally dark hair (with old box dye in it too) but she was able to lift it without my hair turning to spaghetti. Kim also gave me my first real curly cut. I’ll definitely be back to go lighter all around. Atmosphere was great and super clean and has all precautions in place.

I can not express how thankful I am to have found such a wonderful stylist. I haven’t been to a hairstylist in forever and I had been trying to transition my hair from a relaxer to my natural curls and my hair looked like a big ole birds nest. Alexa took her time with me and gave me a great cut. She explained every step of the way, gave me tips on how to achieve the style at home and what products to use. She went over and beyond what any stylist has ever done for me. I cannot thank her enough.The salon itself is very clean, very professional, and everyone there was very friendly. Ive been to this salon 3 times for the time I lived in Pensacola. If I still lived there I would definitely be coming here all the time. I found out about this salon because of their excellent reviews and they definitely hold up to their reviews! They are extremely professional. Its a nice atmosphere to be in. The stylist are very kind, professional, very knowledgeable on what they are doing, and easy to chit chat with when youre sitting in a chair for hours. I had Austin the first time I got my hair done, and then I had Jackie the last 2 times. All times for balayage. None of the times ever disappointed me. I like to change things up every now and then and she patiently listens to my vision and provides solid feedback and suggestions for what we can do. I absolutely recommend Katey if youve never been to Salon San Carlos or are not pleased with the results your current stylist provides. She is top notch!Update: Recent appointment again with Katey. The salon goes above and beyond with COVID protocols which I appreciated. Told Katey I wanted a different look and once again she came through with an easy to care for and style cut. Incredible experience!! Ive never been to a salon that had curl experts before and I was so amazed at the amount of information that my stylist, Katey, had in regards to my hair and my concerns. Best cut Ive had in 8 years and worth every penny! From the minute I walked in, the people here were professional and very friendly. Writing a review is not something I normally do, but I must give credit where credit is due.This was my first time at Salon San Carlos, and I was completely blown away with how professional and punctual the staff was.By far, the best salon in Pensacola!!!For the past 10 years I have had many terrible experiences and I was quite nervous to give it another shot with a completely new salon and stylist.With my wedding anniversary rapidly approaching, I wanted to look my best. If it werent for my husband being so persistent that I give it another shot, I wouldnt have discovered this gem in Pensacola.I was immediately greeted by friendly ladies as I walked in and if it werent for the masks required due to Covid-19, their smiles would be equally as welcoming. The owners Pam and Carlos, took time to greet me as well.My stylist, Kim Keller, was prompt in inviting me back to her chair for a one-on-one consultation. She had made time for me, same day, in her already very busy schedule. Her professionalism, many years of experience, and warm personality was beyond any of my expectations.I left the salon with happy tears in my eyes and saying to myself...she will be my stylist from here on out. She truly listened to all of my concerns and quickly gave me my confidence back. She did such a wonderful job and must be recognized for it.The salon was gorgeously appointed, clean, staffed exceptionally, friendly, and were priced very fairly. New customer for life!
