Getting my hair care at Dereks The Salon is a wonderful experience to which I look forward each week. I have been using the same stylist, Jim, for over twenty years, For over 5 of them Jim has been at Dereks. This Salon is certainly the best run and has the most pleasant, calming and friendly atmosphere of any I have used. I highly recommend Dereks The Salon!

I love the atmosphere of this salon! The entire staff is friendly and welcoming. I see Sarah for all of my appointments and she is great! I have been going to her for some time now. She always does an excellent job and I am always loving my hair when I leave. She is honest, personable, and professional. I am going to have her trim my daughter’s hair as well! Highly recommend!

Well, where do I begin? Derek and I met in Niagara Falls, NY many years ago. He styled mine and my daughters hair for several years. Before meeting Derek I wandered from one stylist to another. I couldnt find the right fit until I somehow ran into Derek and his wife Alex. Derek is kind, understanding, remains current on hair styles and spends quality time with his clients. When I found out that he was moving I was literally crushed. Fast forward to now. Twenty years later I met up with Derek in Florida. We moved about 40 miles from his salon. I was able to visit his new salon and had my hair colored, but and styled. I didnt realize how much I missed his expertise and cuts. I highly recommend Derek and his Salon. The staff is friendly and welcoming. The salon is also in a great location if you want enjoy a day of shopping and eating. Happy to back!

I see Sarah and she is a gem! She is a great listener and a true expert in all things hair. I typically do babylights with a tone and a cut and she always delivers. She cuts my daughter’s hair and my daughter LOVES her. She’s super sweet and I love seeing her for my appointments. Highly recommend!

This was my first time visiting and I was referred to Sarah. From the initial setting of the appt. to the ambiance of the establishment, both were seamless and professional. Sarah is Awesome, Friendly and being that I was new to the salon really solidified the great experience. She discussed what style I was looking for, what might work best and executed perfectly!! She knows her craft! The whole experience was impressive and everyone was friendly and attentive. Thank you and I will be back!

What a great experience! From the moment I entered the salon, I was welcomed by a warm and friendly staff. They were truly amazing.Wayne styled my hair that day. He listened, he suggested and together we came up with a plan. He was honest about the condition of my hair and worked hard to get it in shape. You can sense he has a passion for what he does. Since coming to Florida, I’ve been searching for a stylist for four long years. I finally found him! Wayne is all that and more. What an amazing, talented person and stylist.

Ashley cut and styled my hair and did a fantastic job! I have curly hair that can be difficult to manage, but Ashley listened to my requests and styled my hair fabulously. She also blew out and straightened my hair which can be quite the challenge due to the thickness of my hair, but I walked out of the salon with a beautiful blowout and a new lightness thanks to the cut and style.

Derek is just amazing. It‘s really hard to find someone who knows how to cut men‘s long hair. Derek is the best. I‘m 1000% happy with my cut. Alexia washed my hair and also was fantastic. Great atmosphere and outstanding customer service. Thank you so much ❤️

Hrvoje has been cutting my hair since we moved to Sarasota almost 5 years ago. He came highly recommended by 2 friends so I felt confident booking an appointment with him although no one else had touched my hair for 29 years or colored it before moving here from DE. He did not disappoint and continues to always ask how I like my hair before cutting, is fun, talented, easy to engage in conversation with and I always look forward to my monthly appointments to see him. Hrvoje is a huge asset to the salon!

In love with how my hair turned out thanks to Elena! If you go get your hair done here for sure check Elena out she will not disappoint she is super nice and caring and will do exactly what you want with your hair. Everyone was super nice and it was a very nice experience.

I am a platinum blonde, Ive worn this color for over 20 years and know how hard it is to get it right. I had my color done by Elena and she knocked it out of the park! Not only did she get it right she gave the best scalp massage! I do not mind spending a little extra for a luxury experience. The salon is stunning and everyone was so nice you can tell that Derek has created an exceptional team. Will be back!!

Wayne did an excellent cut and colour for my blonde curly hair. I am very very pleased and Im fussy going to the same hairdresser 28 years in Toronto. I tried a few others on recommendations from Sarasota Facebook people with curly hair but none did what Wayne did! He will now be my go to guy for my 6 months a year living down here. A total PRO!!! (and wait until he tells you about his past and all the famous people before moving to Sarasota) Also, very fair in pricing. And worth every cent!. Derek The Salon is clean, professional and very welcoming. GO!!!

Hrvoje did an amazing miracle on my hair today!! I was absolutely amazed with my hair color, highlights and my haircut! It has been several years of trying new salons and not being “wowed” with my hair….until now with Hrvoje!! Show him a picture and he will give you exactly what you want!! I would HIGHLY recommend!! Julia, his assistant was awesome as well!

Wayne is the absolute best. No one cuts hair like him. A true talent in his field. He cut my hair for years in NYC. I blessed to visit him in Sarasota on a vacation and finally got an exquisite haircut again. Ive been searching for someone since he left. But alas as I said No one cuts like WAYNE. There is a reason his mantle is filled with Emmys. He will never boast so Ill do it for him. He comes from Television, movies and Theater. So if you want to look like a movie star. Wayne is your guy. Derekthesalon is lucky to have him. wish he was still in NY. My loss your gain.

Derek is the best salon that Ive ever been. Ive been in Sarasota for 11 years. A friend referred me and told me that Ashley was the best for everything. Toner, highlights, glaze, haircut, blow-dry. I have curly hair. They give you water, coffee and make you feel very comfortable. Im thankful that I found a salon that is the best for me.

After moving from up North, finding a hairstylist who is a true professional and knows how to work with blondes has been a challenge. So I was so happy to have found Derek the Salon. The staff and Derek (owner) are unparalleled professionals at their craft, equal to what you would find at the top NY and LA salons. After a bad experience at another salon, I finally just started to give this salon a try. I was surprise to find not only was it a beautiful welcoming salon but the people were upbeat and happy. Derek was a down-to-earth extremely talented stylist And promptly fix my hair. It is taking me many years to find a good stylist in the area and I will definitely be continuing to go to this salon I definitely would give it 5 stars

Extremely happy!!! I went here for the first time today and had an amazing color and haircut/blowout. Derek met with me and listened to my concerns (dry, unruly hair that I sometimes want to wear curly and sometimes straight). He made excellent suggestions and did an amazing job on my hair. Lindsay was also excellent in the color application. They were all so nice starting the minute I walked in the door. So glad that I found this salon!

I’ve always had bad experiences with my hair and was completely damaged. I am a client of Gabriella she is a great hairstylist! She took great care of me and made me feel confident and myself again lol. I have been going to her for about 5 years. The customer service and results are amazing! I totally would recommend 100%. Best place to get hair done in Sarasota! I have always struggled trying to find someone able to cut my hair as it is super thick and tends to do what it wants! Ashley is AMAZING!!! I always leave with a super cute hairdo and get lots of compliments. The rest of the staff is very friendly and attentive. They really care about their clients.

This is HANDS DOWN the best salon in Sarasota. I have been trusting Bri with my hair for the past year and she has done nothing but an excellent job. She not only gives excellent hair trims, styling, product advice, but also is MASTER COLORIST. She has brought my hair to a whole new level of color dimension and health. I have sent numerous friends in town to her who say she is the ONLY one to be able to pull off their desired hair color and style. She is extremely knowledgeable everything hair related and always has new ideas that I end up loving. Not to mention she is so easy to be around and makes me have such a great experience from start to finish. She takes a lot of time with clients and is so friendly and gives the best scalp massages! Nothing but positive things to say about both Bri and Derek The Salon! Must try salon.

Awesome haircut and amazing staff. I was hesitant to go anywhere other then what I was used to (sports clips). However, my same style haircut was not cutting it anymore, and I needed to try something different. Michelle Bell did such a great job explaining different styles and trends, and then cut and styled it exactly how they explained. The staff was extremely kind and helpful and my hair looks great! Definitely going back!

Ive had Derek as my hair stylist for 10 years now, before he even had his own Salon.He himself is so knowledgable and talented and probably one of the easiest humans to talk to.There are a number of things I have to say about the salon, first the quality of what youll receive, whether its a cut, color, style, ect is going to be top of the line.Not only is his service and talent, but the people/team he has surrounded himself with is also impeccable.Ive seen Michelle and Dayna for color and both have exceeded my expectations.Also the vibe in the salon is great, you feel comfortable, at home and everyone seems to be so full of life.Did I mention everything you recieve from when you walk in until you leave is top of the line?I LOVE DEREK THE SALON and his team!!!

Fantastic salon! Amazing atmosphere, talent and service. They light the salon with soft lights that compliment your appearance versus fluorescent lights that make you uncomfortable. Most importantly, my cut and color came out beautifully, and theyre fast!
