    I had appointments with Mrs. Ava for highlights and a cut. I will say I am so thrilled to have found her. I have very curly hair and it’s so hard to find someone that I trust to touch my hair. She had done my haircut on one appointment and did a phenomenal job on it. She actually listened to me and didn’t assume. When I went in for my color with her, it was the same deal, she listened to what I was looking for and did what she was able to do without damaging my curls.     After 3~5 years of long hair growth and a very well-established topknot hairstyle, I made the difficult decision that my hair was becoming too frustrating & maintenance-intensive, and I wanted to go back to a shorter cut that Id had for many years. It was a long and challenging journey, inward & emotionally, to commit to the idea of essentially destroying what I had let grow for so long, but I read lots of reviews and felt inspired to request Ava. When I first went in as a walk-in, she was booked out several days ahead, so I had to prolong my anxiety and just wait it out. (Schedule an appointment ahead of time!) This afternoon, with a stomach full of dread, I stepped through the door and sat down in her chair. I explained how difficult this appointment was for me, and that I may become emotional—she was more than empathetic, and made sure she understood the style I was reverting back to, aided by some old pictures of me I showed her on my phone. Her temperament was amazing, comforting, and very professional. I grossly underestimated how painful and heavy it would be when those long strands hit the floor. When she began with the area in front of my face, I closed my eyes and suffered through the sound of the scissors (that sound hits very differently after having grown-out your hair for several years...this, too, she fully understood). I did a very poor job of flushing back tears, knowing full well the hair would not be there when I opened my eyes. Im embarrassed to admit that, as a grown man, I quietly cried in her chair during this cut. I implored that I really hoped I wasnt making anything awkward for her and she assured me that she understood how I felt and that I was fine. Despite my emotional pain and being a teary-eyed baby in her chair, she remained utmost professional and warm. I cannot put into words how much I sincerely appreciate the due sensitivity to my situation she extended so effortlessly, fully understanding why this cut was so difficult for me, and helping me through the transition. She recognizes that hair is an energetic time capsule of the human life experience, and that it stores memories, feelings etc., a lot of which come flooding out when a significant amount is cut off—indeed, I was in very good hands. The cut came out great and I trust that, in time, it will feel good to be back to my old self, but of course it may take some time since Im a sensitive person and have to kind of mourn my lost hair until Ive adjusted. But Ava was absolutely amazing and I couldnt be happier with having taken a chance on her and seeing what she can do. She was extremely skilled with her scissors, point-cutting everything to just how I wanted it effortlessly, and I was impressed by how quickly she got the style dialed-in. The price was more than reasonable. Shes young but she must have been cutting hair for many years, because she is very, very good---now I know why her name is mentioned so often and so happily throughout these reviews! She mentioned that youre guaranteed a great cut no matter whose chair you land in in TCR, but, once I connect with somebody who can do my style well, I tend to stay with them. So I will definitely be back in Avas chair for my next cut. She leaves no room for disappointment, and has earned my trust & confidence. Thank you again Ava. 💇🏻‍♂️🙏🏻

    I’ve always been particular with who I let cut my hair but since going to Ava I can’t see letting anyone else do it. She is amazing. She is very thorough and meticulous and you can tell she takes pride in her craft. The shop itself is a nice environment with great music but I may be bias to the music 🤘. If you want a great cut, go see Ava!

    This was one of the best salons I have been to. Nice neighborhood. Clean, professional building. Jamie did my hair & was on time. Treated me with professionalism.     I love “The Cutting Room”, they are the best business in town! My co-workers recommended this place, they recommended Paul specifically. That man is an artist, he really knows what he’s doing! I highly recommend this place, there’s plenty of talented stylists available and I’ve heard very good things from other co-workers about the other stylists. I also highly recommend making an appointment instead of walk in, it’s more courteous when you make appointments. Don’t forget to leave a tip, they’ve earned it! I will definitely be returning soon for a long overdue haircut!

    I stepped out of my comfort zone and got highlights. Taylor did such a great job! And I needed a trim too, my ends were pretty bad and I told her to take as much off as she needed to but as little as she could and she managed to somehow trim all the dead ends off without it even looking like I lost any length at all.     Got a full head of highlights & a trim by Ava and I had the best experience!! Good pricing and the salon was so clean. I saw them wiping down chairs after ever use and spraying the combs etc .     Wonderful Gem of a Hair Salon!! Was a walk-in for a haircut. Nice waiting area, plenty of up to date magazines if youre running low on battery, (also spied an accessable outlet). Bathroom was very clean! (Hold the lever down for a minute to get the toilet to flush all the way.) Loved the music, not too loud! Paul cut my hair and he was very nice, very comfortable conversation. He did a great job on the cut! Definitely my new go-to place!
