    I may be a bit biased as this is my son’s business and I’m also a Loctician and Business Manager at Hunterlockx, but speaking on behalf of my only child and now 30 yr old son…he mortgaged his home on his own 6 yrs ago and licensed his business inside a portion of his home as a residential studio. He’s been very meticulous with the way he organized and maintains his home and business. In top of his now 16 yrs of loc experience, furthered his craft by attending and completing Cosmetology school at the prestigious Paul Mitchell to be able to provide cuts, edging and color etc to extend these additional services to our clients. He additionally authored, produced and published a crochet education class that is available to those interested in learning our unique and one-of-a-kind crochet technique that we use in shop. This technique he created provides for what we like to call the “perfect dreadlock” meaning it provides a well balanced loc eliminating knots and shrinking that causes loops and weak spots in locs. This technique allows for creating locs completely organic for all hair types in all ethnic backgrounds.There’s no denying that in the service industry you can’t make everyone happy. Most negative reviews are at times exaggerated and intended to make a business look bad and usually worse than the actual situation or the truth. Most are isolated incidents and not typical of how business is conducted in the general sense and usually the positive reviews outweigh the negative. As a small “multi-minority” owned business, representing African Americans, Native Americans, and Middle East/Arab Americans we ask for your support. I took on doing locs as a hobby in 2010 when we decided to give my son, Arik dreadlocks. We learned the crochet method and it became something I really enjoyed. When Arik created the business, he asked me to come on as a Loctician and trained me on the new techniques to better my craft. I have a lot of passion and pride in providing the best experience and is most gratifying when I see my guests walk out with a smile.Some of my personal work is included in pics.

    When I started my dreadlock journey 2 1/2 years ago I put my hair in the hands of an inexperienced loctician. Session after session my hair got worse and worse and finally I had had enough. So I started looking for local locticians and I came across Hunterlockx. I found them through a close friend who started his journey not long before me but his dreads were looking much healthier and cleaner. So I booked an appointment with Amy. My fiancé and I sat with her for 9 hours while she undid the damages caused from wax build up and improper maintenance. When she was done I was nearly brought to tears. That was 6 months ago and to this day I am extremely grateful to have made that appointment. If not for Hunterlockx I would have probably cut my hair and never tried to dread my hair again.     I did my research as I wanted to start my dread journey. Through that research I found Hunterlockx. The design of their website was what drew me to the studio, and that was only sealed when I did my consultation with Amy. She was so knowledgeable and kind, I knew that I found the place to be.My session was amazing!     I had my locs maintained by Amy and honestly I’m in awe, because I came in with 7 thinning locs and left with all of them reconstructed and a fresh retwist, my past Locticians had my scalp hurting so much it would bubble up, but with any she is delicate, 10/10 and definitely will be coming back soon!!!

    Must read.... I spent years considering getting my hair Locked and I am so glad to have found Hunterlockx. They are pros in the technic. The owner Arik is amazing and Amy who did my hair is master in her craft. I knew exactly what I wanted and she delivered and she gave me that and then some. It was a long and process being that my hair was extremely long and thick. I read a few reviews where people complained how long it took to do their hair, when something is done right it should time and they get it right. They should be charging more for how good they are yet they are still affordable. I am beyond impressed with the out come definitely superceded my expectations.

    One stop shop in Tampa if you want that crochet Retwist like the real deal where it looks like you palm rolled your roots with gel.Except it last much longer & no product is used that you have to wash out later.Nice shop very professional good vibes. everybody say they can give you that crochet Retwist but he really The only one in the city.

    Arik is very friendly and a fantastic loctician. I have straight hair and he installed and maintains my locs beautifully. Hes always willing to share knowledge on how to best care for my specific set of locs. Ive had a bumpy start due to scalp sensitivity and he has been patient and flexible with it.     I had a budding problem with my dreads and when I was calling around Arik offered a free consultation the same day. When I stopped by he gave a great explanation on their services which for me was dread crocheting, a retwist and a cut. It was very convenient for them to offer both services so I could get everything done in one day. Arik and Amy were definitely professionals. Amy meticulously crocheted my dreads and did an amazing job getting them under control and Arik cleaned up my hairline with some sharp edges. If youre looking to get your dreads touched up or youre looking to change your style I recommend them.

    This is the only place I will at work my hair. With having straight blonde hair it is hard to get my dreadlocks to actually stay in. This is the only place Ive ever found that can actually work my hair you can tell where they started taking over the care of my hair. Great place to relax and always does an amazing job. Their prices seem a little higher than most but it is definitely worth it because when I go here I know that my dreads are being taken care of.

    I came to Hunterlockx never having had dreadlocks before, and am so glad this is where I came to get them done. I had a ton of questions before even committing to book an appointment that Arik very kindly assisted me with via text message. Super convenient. I asked about different styles and options as well as how to make it work best financially for me and he had all the answers. When it came time for my appointment Arik made me feel very relaxed and comfortable playing good music and giving off great energy while taking care to ensure I was not in pain during the process and that he was producing quality work. I got 20 locks that day, I plan to finish my head in the near future. 20 micro sized locks took about 5 hours to do in my thin hair but was well worth the time. I would recommend Hunterlockx to anyone interested in new locks or maintenance. I had a great experience and will surely be a loyal returning customer. :)

    Arik was very professional from start to finish. He addressed all my problems with my dreads and was sure to answer all of my questions. He plays good music, makes good conversation if youre the talkative type and a good listener with all your locking needs.     Wow, where to begin. I have had my Locs for about 3 years now. I’ve gotten them started in Harlem, NY…then moved to Philly. I recently moved to Tampa and my loctician in Philly referred me to Arik.Things were very professional the entire time. This was honestly one of the most professional experiences I’ve ever had when getting my hair done. I have 99 Locs and both Amy & Arik worked on a retwist to freshen up my roots. The total service took about 4 hours (much shorter then I had anticipated). Amy was so attentive and was sure to ensure I was comfortable. She is such a genuine person and was very informative about their services & what the shop had to offer. A basic style was included and I left feeling more knowledgeable about how to care for my Locs moving forward. Pricing was also average when considering the fact that I have 99 Locs.I’m incredibly grateful to have found this location. Excited for more years of continued loc growth 🙌🏽

    I had been on the fence about whether or not to have my entire head dreaded for about 2-3 years and Amy from @Hunterlockx not only made me feel the most comfortable and at home, but made my dreads and my experience as a whole absolutely amazing! She had music, netflix/tv options, it was extremely clean/organized, and I loved the way it was a comfortable home environment.     When I say they should change Amy’s name to Loc Guru, I mean that. This was by far the most amazing hair experience I’ve ever had. From the moment I did a consult to the moment I sat in her chair. She was nothing short of professional and friendly. The level of customer service that she provides cannot be compared to any other salon I’ve ever visited. During the entire appointment we laughed, she makes you feel right at home, while Adlai answering any questions or concern you have.
